Product Overview

The DC EV Discharger 5KW V2L turns an electric car's DC charge port into a portable EV power supply. The whole unit sits in one black housing with a carry handle on top and a standard cable — compact enough to live in the boot, long enough to reach from the car to a table or a workbench. That is what this unit does, with no app in the loop. Because we buy from established DC EV charger manufacturers and accessory suppliers, the interface, cable and socket face are checked against your market before the unit is packed, and a repeat order can be placed on the same reference without re-specifying anything.

Interfaces, Sockets and Compatibility

The first thing to be clear about is direction. A DC EV charger pushes current into the pack; this unit pulls it out and converts it to ordinary household AC, which is why the front face carries domestic sockets instead of a charging connector. Nothing on the unit overrides the vehicle — the session runs through the DC inlet the car already uses, and the car stays in control from start to finish. The three interface versions are not interchangeable, and mixing them up is the most common ordering mistake. CCS1 is the North American variant, CCS2 the European one, and NACS is the Tesla connector; each version of this ccs1 ccs2 nacs discharger is built for one of them, so the vehicle's DC inlet decides what you order. For Tesla drivers the NACS version is the one that works as a Tesla V2L adapter. Sockets are the other half of compatibility. The outlet face is built to American or European patterns, with covers over the sockets, and the universal layout accepts the plugs most households already own. If a fleet mixes appliance types or your customers travel between countries, tell us which plug types you see most and we will match the socket face at order.

Field Applications

  • Camping and overlanding — a fridge, camp lights, a kettle and a projector all run from the car, and the cable from the V2L discharge gun reaches from the parking spot into the tent or under the awning. - Roadside and breakdowns — while a vehicle waits for recovery, the CCS1 CCS2 NACS discharger keeps phones, a warning beacon, a laptop and a heater running from the pack it is already carrying. - Outdoor work sites — trades working away from mains power use it for chargers, inspection lamps and small power tools, then pack it back into the van at the end of the day. - Film, events and market stalls — monitors, lighting and battery chargers on location where there is no mains feed to run a cable to. - Trade and resale — dealers, rental fleets and distributors who already buy from EV charging hardware manufacturers can add the unit to the same order as an accessory that answers the question every new EV owner asks first: what can I plug into it?

Runtime and Load Planning

  • Start with what the car will give you — the vehicle to load power comes from the same pack the car drives on, and the vehicle treats discharge like any other charging session in reverse, protecting a reserve at the bottom of the pack, so plan on the usable window between roughly 20% charge and full rather than the whole battery.
  • Runtime is a division, not a fixed number — take the usable energy in the pack and divide it by the combined draw of everything you plug in. Two owners with the same car get very different session lengths because their appliances differ, which is why there is no single hour figure printed on the box.
  • Add up the loads before you plug anything in — the output of the 5kw discharge unit is a ceiling for everything connected at once, so a heater, a kettle and lights have to fit underneath it together. Read the rating plate on each appliance instead of guessing.
  • Allow for start-up surge — motors and compressors in fridges, pumps and power tools pull a brief spike when they kick in. Start the heaviest appliance on its own, let it settle, then add the rest.
  • Plan the charge first — a DC EV charger stop on the way out puts the pack back up to a level worth discharging from. Charging is the first half of the trip and discharge is the second, and they work most effectively planned together.
  • Heat is the summer limit — in direct sun or inside a hot car the over-temperature protection cuts output rather than letting the unit cook. Shade it and keep the vents and grilles clear of bags and blankets.
  • Keep it out of the weather — the housing is built for dry, sheltered use, so run it under the awning or beside an open boot rather than leaving it in the rain with the socket covers off.
  • Pack size decides the session — a compact EV with a small battery will run a kettle for less time than a long-range model, and that difference is the single most useful thing to explain to a customer buying a Tesla vehicle to load adapter for occasional weekend use.

Starting and Stopping the Discharge

  1. Park with the charge port reachable and switch the vehicle off, then plug the head of the CCS1 CCS2 NACS discharger into the DC inlet the car uses for fast charging.
  2. Press the start/stop button and release it. The system takes around 30 seconds to come up, and the green indicator light confirms the sockets are live.
  3. The 5kw discharge unit enters the discharge process by itself — there is no menu, app or setting to configure on the unit.
  4. Plug the appliance into the matching outlet on the discharge control unit; power is established as soon as the plug is seated.
  5. To prepare the unit before you reach the car, press the button with the gun unplugged and it reaches standby after about 30 seconds; plugging it into the vehicle then starts the discharge.
  6. If the vehicle ends the session on its own, plug the gun back in — discharge restarts without a second press of the button.
  7. To stop, switch the button off and wait about 15 seconds for the discharge process to close before unplugging the v2l discharge gun from the car.
  8. Unplug the appliance first and the gun second, coil the cable loosely, refit the socket covers and store the portable EV power supply somewhere dry.

Ordering and Delivery

  1. Interface and socket: confirm CCS1, CCS2 or NACS for each vehicle market you serve, and whether the outlet face should be American or European. Mixed consignments are routine for distributors.
  2. Flexible MOQ & delivery: this model starts at 10 units, and production and shipping are scheduled around your rollout rather than a fixed batch size, so a first order can be small and grow with demand.
  3. One-stop export service: we consolidate the units with the rest of your order, handle the export documentation and book the shipment, so one contact covers it from factory to arrival.
  4. Single-item packing: each unit is sold as a single item and travels boxed with its own accessories, ready to go onto a shelf or into a van.
  5. Warranty: 12 months. Keep the unit's documentation with it — installers and trade buyers ask for it when a discharger is resold.
  6. Mixed orders: units from the same DC EV charger manufacturers can be added to one shipment, so discharge units, cables and accessories arrive together.
  7. Catalogue consistency: the EV charging hardware manufacturers we work with supply connectors and accessories across our range, so part numbers and documentation stay aligned inside a mixed container.
  8. Charging equipment alongside: if the same project needs charging too, ask for a DC EV charger to be quoted with the discharge units — the same buyer usually wants both.

Supply Chain & Delivery Assurance

We are a trading company rather than a manufacturer, and what we put behind every order is the supplier network we work with: we match your specification, certification and target-market requirements to the right partner factory, then consolidate the full order into one shipment so you deal with a single contact from quotation to arrival. That structure also lets us act as your second supplier when you want to reduce dependence on a single source. Sourcing, pre-shipment inspection, OEM and private-label coordination, export documentation and after-sales follow-up all sit with our team.

FAQ

Q1. Will a Tesla detect this unit and shut it down?

The NACS version of this Tesla V2L adapter includes a module specifically designed for Tesla vehicles, so the car recognises the session instead of rejecting it. Owners have used it to run a barbecue and boil water at Tesla Owners Club gatherings without any problem. Order the NACS version for a Tesla and the behaviour is the same as with any other compatible vehicle.

Q2. Is the output AC or DC — and does this Tesla vehicle to load adapter need charging itself?

Energy leaves the pack as DC and the unit converts it to household AC at 110–220 V, which is what your appliances need. Starting is handled by three 18650 cells inside the housing, and once the unit is running an internal module recharges them from the session. If it has sat unused for more than a year, those starting cells may need an external charger before the first use.

Q3. Can I order the American and European socket versions together?

Yes. The control unit, cable and discharge head are the same; only the outlet face changes to suit the plug pattern, so both versions can travel in one consignment. Because we work with a number of EV charging hardware manufacturers, the socket face is built to the pattern you specify rather than adapted after the fact. Tell us the plug types your customers use most and we will match them at order.

Q4. What is the USB port on the unit for?

It collects data when something goes wrong and allows the unit's internal data to be updated when needed. Every discharger sees different conditions across its life, so if a charging failure appears suddenly, contact us and we will take you through the update step by step. A USB flash drive is supplied with each unit for exactly this purpose.

Q5. The car has CCS but the discharger will not run. Why?

Check scheduled charging first. If a timer or a departure schedule is active, the vehicle will not allow the unit to discharge — switch the timer off and try again. Once the blocker is cleared, plugging the gun back in restarts the discharge without pressing the start/stop button.

Q6. Can it run my house during a power cut?

It can carry selected appliances, not a whole installation. The 5 kW output is a ceiling for everything connected at once, so during an outage you choose which loads matter — a fridge, a heater, lights, a router — and keep the total underneath it. Whole-home backup is a different class of equipment with its own changeover hardware.
